Zeina Fayad : “I urge the peoples to negotiate and debate”

Famous as a journalist in the Arab world, Zeina Fayad participated in the international conference Axis for Peace, held on November 17 and 18, 2005 in Brussels by Voltaire Network. During a working session about the modern forms of interference, the journalist with the Arab News Broadcasting highlighted the part of the media in “selling” the war against Iraq to the nations and in the promotion of the clash of civilizations ideology. In a vibrant call, Zeina Fayad asked nations to hold talks to put an end to the logic of war: “The occupation has used the media to justify the war in Iraq and to present a reactionary image of the Arab people. Occupation forces are trying to create a clash of civilizations, but I urge the peoples to negotiate and debate. I am Arab and I am a successor of a civilization that is centuries old: I oppose all forms of war and I make a call to defend the values of all cultures. Voltaire Network can change many things and the militaristic ideologies can not determine the fate of mankind.”
