Youssef Aschkar: “The action of Axis for Peace should continue”

Youssef El Aschkar, Lebanese historian and political scientist, suggested to carry on with the action of Axis for Peace through the holding of other similar meetings. This eminent political militant, who headed the PSNS – important Lebanese party - on four occasions, would like Axis for Peace to help develop a strong resistance against war. “It is necessary to give continuity to this conference, so Axis for Peace should be a permanent institution. As it seems difficult to reform the United Nations, our goal would be creating resistance against war, using research works and thus mobilizing public opinion and exposing the real perpetrators of terrorist actions.” Youssef Aschkar is also the author of Globalisation of Terror, published before the September 11 attacks, a work in which he foresaw their imminence and consequences.
