The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Finland called on the European Union to follow the example of Latin American countries and develop relations of cooperation with Cuba.

In a communiqué reflecting its opinion of the European Union’s position toward Cuba, it categorically urges the Finnish government and the EU to abandon the so-called common stance.
The political organization cautions about promises from the new US administration of pursuing more respectful relations with Cuba, pointing out that this will only truly happen when Barack Obama is willing to lift the US blockade of Cuba.
The Central Committee of the Finnish Communist Party also demands the release of the five Cuban antiterrorists unjustly incarcerated in the United States since 1998 for monitoring the activities of Miami-based anti-Cuban terrorist groups.
