The Cuban Television newscast showed images of the cordial exchange, which made it possible to establish once more the good state of bilateral relations, which received a significant boost with the official visits of President Medvedev to Cuba in November, 2008, and of Raul to Russia in January, 2009. Talks also included themes related to the international situation.

Raul asked Lavrov to convey his greetings to the Russian president and the Prime Minister, along with the ratification of the willingness to continue strengthening the already strong relations between the two countries in all sectors, particularly in the economic one.

Also participating in the meeting were Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, and the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Cuba, Mikhail L. Kamynin.
