Julio Fernandez Bulte

Most of the delegates will come from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, according to information provided to ACN by Ana Maria Pozos, from the National Association of Jurists (ANJC).

He added that, after the opening, the book “Panorama de la Ciencia del Derecho en Cuba”, one of the 20 texts written by Professor Fernandez Bulte, who died in Havana in 2008 at the age of 71, will be presented.

According to the program, debates will begin on Wednesday at the Faculty of Law of the University of Havana, where Dora Esther Ayala, from Argentina’s Universidad Nacional del Nordeste, will offer a lecture.

Ayala will focus on her thesis “The teaching of Law in Latin America: a curricular
approach”, while her Cuban colleagues Virgen Aguilar Rivero and Maria Eugenia Texidor will speak about the interdisciplinary conception of History classes.

A university educator for over four decades, Fernández Bulté was the Dean of the Faculty of Law, an Honorary Member of the ANJC and of the Association of Pedagogues of Cuba, and received the 2007 Carlos Manuel de Cespedes National Law Prize.

He actively participated in the struggle for the release of Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez –internationally known as The Cuban Five-, unjustly incarcerated in the United States since 1998 for fighting terrorism.
