On 27 May 2010, President Barack Obama has released the new U.S. National Security Strategy.

Washington persists in believing that since September 11, 2001 its main enemy is Al Qaeda and its terrorist affiliates, but it has dropped the expression ’war on terror ", insofar as the target is neither a method of warfare (terrorism), nor a religion (Islam).

However, nothing changes on the merits: Washington reserves the right to intervene anywhere in the world where a group claims to belong to Al-Qaeda, and it is on that pretext that troops are engaged in Afghanistan and in Iraq. Yet, to date no hard evidence has been presented of any complicity on the part of the Taliban Emirate or the government of Saddam Hussein in the attacks of 11 September which have been attributed to Al Qaeda. Lies die hard.
