Erdogan punishes TV channels covering crackdown

The Turkish authorities, controlled by the Erdogan government, inflicted heavy fines on four television channels (Halk TV, Ulusal TV, Cem TV and EM TV) for live streaming police repression at Taksim Square.

According to the Radio and Television Supreme Council, the images showing riot police dispersing protestors "harm the physical, moral and mental development of children and adolescents."
