Double dealing the US in Syria


On 18 August 2017 Brett McGurk, the Special Envoy of President Obama and then President Trump in the fight against Isis, met with the chiefs of tribes inhabiting the Saudi-Syrian desert.

According to the “anti-terrorist tsar”, it was an “excellent meeting with the sheikhs of the main tribes of the province of Raqqa, the objective being to destroying Daesh and restoring life to their communities”.

However, several of McGurk’s invitees… were members of Daesh.
