Jared Kushner and Jason Greenblatt are starting a voyage to the Near East that will lead them to Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar but not to the Palestinian Territories nor to Syria.

Jared Kushner (Trump’s son-in-law) and Jason Greenblatt have collaborated with Donald Trump for quite some time now. Both are Jewish orthodox. Both lack any diplomatic experience and now are tasked with drawing up a peace plan for the New East without referring it to the State Department. Their “line manager” will be the US President.

While they are travelling, David Friedman (featured in the centre of the photo), who is the US ambassador to Israel, will be in Washington for routine consultations. Also Jewish orthodox, he is known for his outrageous positions.

The US plan will probably be based on a “Two State Solution”; the Palestinian state would be a merger of Jordan and Cisjordan. It is noteworthy that the capital of this state would be a district of Jerusalem (Abu Dis and eventually Jabel Mukaber, Issawiya and Shuafat).

This plan seeks to improve the situation of the Palestinians, not to meet all their aspirations. Mahmoud Abbas has been opposed to it for a long time, but the same is not true of the majority of Palestinian factions (which includes a wing of the Fatah and the Hamas which supports them).

In the West, France, Sweden and the United Kingdom are still trying to sabotage it. The whole plan should be unveiled to the public by the end of July.
