In the United States, Anthony Principi’s inexplicable abdication from his post of Secretary for the Ex-Combatants was motivated by the impoverished uranium weapons scandal. This spread wider with UN expert Leuren Moret’s assertion that there was no more doubts, even the slightest one, that the «Gulf War Syndrome», which affected a great number of the soldiers involved in it, could be attributed to the impoverished uranium they consumed. This is at least what the Veterans for Constitutional Law Executive Director Arthur Bernklau states when summing up the facts: out of the 580 000 soldiers in this war, 11 000 have died up to date and more than half of them are medically disabled.
