Media concentration in France

By Cyril Capdevielle | 9 February 2006 | Voltaire, édition internationale | The publication of the report made by the Lancelot Commission in January with regard to media concentration in France had, as its first impact, the rise of shares prices of the great groups of the sector. The report concluded that the current state of concentration in the media sector is not a threat on pluralism, that there was not reason to be worried about the conclusions of the Commission which, on the other hand, considers that the media depend on the provisions of common law with regard to concentration.

The superpower without complex
Empire

By Cyril Capdevielle | 17 January 2006 | Voltaire, édition internationale | From now on, the American empire assumes itself with no complex at all, it’s even theorized by the elites of a country that accepts that democratic ideals are not theirs anymore. Thus, the Heritage Foundation held a conference on the lessons of the Roman empire for today’s America (The Lessons of the Roman Empire for America Today). As in Rome, the United States is called to play its role as a superpower by means of war and devastation. The American imperialism is not a mental construction of leftists or other alter-worldists. It’s a reality, in fact.

UNICEF Report
Invisible children

By Cyril Capdevielle | 17 January 2006 | Voltaire, édition internationale | A UNICEF report recently issued addressed the situation of children worldwide. It was not surprising that the figures published revealed a catastrophic situation. Mostly because half of the births that take place in developing nations are not registered, thus turning these children into invisible ones for the States and their policies. Among the figures shown we could mention the 171 million children that work in the world sometimes under similar conditions to those of slavery. Endemic poverty, wars and AIDS are also the factors that account for these shameful facts.

From the Cold War to the War on Terror
NATO: an alliance for freedom

By Cyril Capdevielle | 16 January 2006 | Voltaire, édition internationale | Reforming NATO and turn it into an instrument of the war on terror is the ambition of a think tank chaired by José María Aznar and whose proposal is that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization mimics exactly the current war machinery of the United States. NATO would turn, from a military alliance against the Soviet Union, into a transnational military-police organization.

Report of the US National Security Council
Strategy for victory in Iraq

By Cyril Capdevielle | 12 January 2006 | Voltaire, édition internationale | Recently published by the White House, the “Strategy for victory in Iraq” is, first of all, a communication document for US public opinion that is increasingly more skeptical regarding the relevance of troops in Iraq and which demands that the “boys” come home. In such a communication, it is also ascertained that the strategy used, obviously, is the most appropriate one … but it would take some time to achieve victory. To “Sadaam’s followers”, “terrorists” and other “rejectionists”, they will have no other choice than to live with the consequences!
