On behalf of the Cuban government, the island’s Minister of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation, Marta Lomas, saw off the visitor at the Jose Marti International Airport in Havana.

During his stay in Cuba, the African leader held official talks with First Vice President Raul Castro and with other high-ranking officials.

Nguema Mbasogo and Raul Castro spoke about topics of national and international interest and discussed aspects of mutual interest such as the development of cooperation ties, particularly Cuba’s contribution to the training of human resources in Ecuatorial Guinea.

They also presided over the signing of an agreement that eliminates the visa requirement for service, official and diplomatic passports.

On that occasion, another accord was signed between the Cuban Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Francophony of Ecuatorial Guinea.

During his stay on the island the visitor also placed floral tributes before the monument dedicated to Cuban National Hero Jose Marti at the Revolution Square in Havana and in the Mausoleum to the Fallen in Defense of the Homeland, where he paid homage to Cuban internationalists who died fighting for the independence of Africa.

Cuba and Ecuatorial Guinea established diplomatic relations on December 27, 1972.
