ACC’s Presdident Maria Rolock welcomed King and the delegation accompanying him in the Association’s headquarters. She told the Prime Minister that the ACC keeps close relations with the Caribbean nations and in particular with the government and people of Saint Lucia.
King and the other members of his delegation exchanged with a large group of descendents of Saint Lucian people who live in Havana. They talked about their families, their roots and about how the Caribbean Association supports them in fostering their ancestors’ traditions and culture.

Later in the day, the visitors enjoyed a show organized by the hosts.
The eldest person of Saint Lucian origin living in Cuba, Nelio Danzier Cooper (85) told ACN that he was honored to have been able to meet with authorities of the land of his parents at his age.

The Saint Lucian Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife First Lady Rosalia King, by Culture and Education Minister Arsene James, Health Minister Keith Mondesir, and his country’s ambassador to CARICOM June Soomer, among other personalities.

Likewise, Otto Marrero and Juan Pozo, with the Caribbean Department of the Cuban Communist Party’s Central Committee; and Malay Lamar, an official with the Cuban Foreign Affairs ministry attended the event.
