The Syrian National Army stormed Al-Tal and was able to safely release the journalists captured by the Free Syrian Army.

The assistant cameraman Hatem Abu Yehya had been executed five days earlier.

During the operation, several Contra leaders were killed, including Maher Ismail al-Tahhan, Yasser Sharif al-Ahmar and Mouafaq Ismail al-Taleb.

The three journalists from Al-Ikhbariya - Yara Saleh, Imad Abdallah and Hossam Tabra - who immediately went to the headquarters of Syrian national television (which provides studio space to Al-Ikhbariya ever since the premises this private channel were destroyed by the Contras) where their colleagues were awaiting to welcome them back.
