While U.S.-Israel relations are becoming increasingly tense and Washington has imposed it’s agreement with Iran on Tel-Aviv, Canada has positioned itself as the colonial state’s unswerving friend.

Welcomed as the guest of honor at the annual Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-National Jewish Fund gala in Toronto, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper vowed that « Israel will always have Canada ».

Then, the Prime Minister climbed onto the stage and gave a brief rock performance.

Harper’s performance was followed by a televised video message by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who lavished effusive praise on his Canadian counterpart. « Stephen doesn’t follow the herd (...) he has stood up for the truth, time and time again. Stephen doesn’t want to be politically correct, he wants to be correct. He had the courage to stand up for what he believed (...) I salute you Stephen, not only as a personal friend and a friend of Israel, but as a great leader », Netanyahu said.
