On June 3, Syrian citizens are called upon to democratically elect their president. Syrians living abroad can exercise their voting rights in their country’s diplomatic representations.

However, the French Government officially informed the Syrian Embassy in Paris of its opposition to the holding of the vote on French territory.

The French government has dismissed the democratic election as a "farce." It deems that it is not up to the Syrians to elect their president, but that a transitional government should be designated by the great powers in the context of an international conference.
