Prince Zeid bin Ra’ad has been appointed High Commissioner for Human Rights, replacing Navi Pillay.

Raised in England and having lived most of his life in the West, Prince Zeid served as Jordan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, then as Ambassador to the United States, and again at the United Nations until the present time. He is a lawyer, who built his career within the international institutions.
