President Obama appointed on 6 December 2014 Ashton Carter as the new Secretary of Defense.

A senior official who served under a number of Secretaries of Defense, he played a central role in the procurement of all goods and services. He was notably in charge of the F-35 program, an aircraft fighter project capable of doing everything on the cheap, but which still does not exist in its final version despite having already squandered $ 160 billion [1]!

Mr. Carter’s appointment was unanimously welcomed by the large US arms corporations.

Politico reveals that Ash Carter, although senior government official, is on the roster at the firm SBD Advisors, a strategic consulting firm which boasts about working in the shadows [2].

Ash Carter has been privy to the war plans of the military-industrial lobby well in advance of US public opinion. Hence, he supported an attack on Iraq and Iran already in 1996, and one against North Korea in 2006.

This appointment corroborates our analysis [3]:
The White House has no defense policy; it has entrusted the Pentagon to a manager without the authority either to reform the system or to elaborate a strategy.
General David Petraeus (ex CIA director, mastermind of the secret war in Iraq and Syria) is still influential; Ashton Carter is one of his close allies.
