Relations between President Trump and Macron deteriorate

+

While the Elysee restricts itself to communicating that a telephone conversation had taken place between the French President and the US President on 1 June 2018, the White House has started leaking bits of it.

It seems that the conversation did not go very well: Emmanuel Macron started by making a “frank” criticism of US policy, and Donald Trump made withering comments to him in return. The interview probably ended with insults in both directions.

We need to go a long way for the French President to demonstrate that he has a great relationship with his US homologue.
