Avril Haines, CIA Deputy Director

April Haines, 43, has been appointed CIA deputy director, replacing Michael Morell.

Ms. Haines served as legal adviser to the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee (where she met Joe Biden and John Kerry) and as legal adviser to the National Security Council (where she met John Brennan).

It is she who drafted the guidelines for the controversial drone strikes.

In the absence of CIA director John Brennan, it is she who will be acting head of the agency.

Deeply involved in the attacks of September 11, Mike Morell tendered his resignation after working 33 years for the agency. He has been appointed by President Obama a Member of the his Intelligence Advisory Board
