Pentagon redeploys troops in Somalia

The Pentagon sent 500 soldiers to Somalia after the “election” of the new president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

President Donald Trump had withdrawn all US forces from that country.

Today about 40% of the population suffers from starvation and nearly a million people live under Sharia law, enforced by of Al-Shabaab.

The new support by the US could be linked to the possible recognition of the independence of Somaliland and the establishment of AfriCom bases.
