The President of the National Electoral Commission (CEN), Maria E. Reus Gonzalez praised on Sunday the results of a dynamic test carried out across the island prior to the general elections scheduled for next Sunday, January 20th.
The mechanisms worked as planned in most of the cases, said Reus Gonzalez in a meeting with reporters at the CEN venue in the municipality of Playa in Havana.
She noted that some of the aspects tested on Sunday were transportation, communications, support personnel and the coordinations with the Jose Marti Organization of Elementary School Students, who will guard the ballot boxes in the 38,353 electoral colleges of the country.
Reus Gonzalez pointed out that, although the vote should be cast in the district where people live, some 600 new facilities have been created for those who can not be there for reasons such as illness, work, etc.
Next Sunday, the Cuban people will choose the delegates to provincial assemblies as well as the members of the National Assembly (Parliament). There are 614 candidates for Parliament and 1,201 nominees for provincial assemblies.
