On behalf of the Cuban government and people, Cuba’s President Raul Castro expressed his condolences and solidarity with the Indian people for the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai, in a message sent India’s PM Manmohan Singh.

Last week’s terrorist attacks in the city of Mumbai have been described as the worst of their kind in the history of India. The actions left 195 dead and more than 300 wounded, according to preliminary figures.

Prensa Latina news agency reported that the message expresses condolences in particular to the families of the victims of the terrorist acts.

Raul Castro concludes the letter expressing “his deepest respect and esteem” for the Indian Prime Minister, said PL.

In a violent terrorist action that has no precedent in Indian history, a group of suicidal extremely well-trained and armed commandos attacked 12 targets of the financial and commercial capital city of India.

Among the high-profile targets were the Oberoi-Trident and Taj Mahal hotels, the Nariman House residential complex that includes a Jewish prayer hall, the Metro Cinema multiple-screen movie theatre, several coffee houses and train and subway stations.

With the actions in Mumbai, 13 Indian cities have been target of terrorist attacks in the past six months.
