Uri Blau, a journalist exiled in London working for liberal Israeli newspaper Haaretz, is negotiating his return to Israel and the release of his colleague Anat Kamm.

In November 2008, he had revealed that the Israeli Armed Forces had assassinated a group of Palestinian activists in breach of the restrictive rules prescribed by the Supreme Court. In addition to his article, he also disclosed two top-secret Tsahal memos. He was immediately indicted for the violation of Defense secrets.

After a lengthy investigation it was established that the documents, as well as 2 000 others, had been photocopied by another Haaretz journalist, Anat Kamm, during her military service. She was put in detention.

According to Haaretz, Uri Blau has decided to return the secret documents to the armed forces.
