The actions taken by Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez, the Cuban Five, as they are known, are internationally recognized in the purposes of combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, said the expert.

Delgado Cura spoke to professionals and students from 20 countries at the Havana’s Convention Palace, who are attending the X International Meeting of Criminal Sciences, and said Cuba is forced to fend off the aggressive U.S. policy and its continuing blockade.

He warned that the political, economic, ecological and social problems generate numerous negative effects and of the growing danger of nuclear war, denounced by Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro.

Such conflicts influence the increase in criminality throughout the world in several ways and particularly in regard to corruption, drugs, illegal migrants and terrorism, he warned.

He suggested that each State must address the negative impacts cause those problems have and used the case of Cuba as an example, where they work on crime prevention through economic, social and cultural development programs, and the improvement of its legislation.

Havana City Historian Eusebio Leal Spengler delivered the first keynote speech of the event, which runs until Friday, with sessions dedicated to the arbitrary proceedings against the Cuban Five.
