Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed his ministers to refrain from talking about Syria, reported the Israeli Army Radio on April 28, 2013.

Recent statements by Deputy Foreign Minister, Zeev Elkin, calling for action against Syrian chemical weapons have been interpreted as an attempt to put pressure on Barack Obama.

Israel has meddled in Syria since the beginning of the "Arab Spring", including through the spread of weapons. The aim was to "bleed" the country. However, the takeover by groups armed by al-Qaida is changing the game around. The Syrian Arab army has left the Israeli border unguarded, allowing the jihadists to pitch tent near the Israeli settlements.
