Greek coast-guards confiscate weapons headed for Syria

Greek coast-guards boarded and searched the cargo ship Nour-M near Symi island.

The boat was transporting 20 000 kalashnikov assault rifles and a great quantity of explosives.

The ship, registered in Sierra Leone, was commanded by a Turkish crew. Coming from Ukraine, it was headed for İskenderun (Turkey). The harbours of Tartus (Syria) and Tripoli (Libya) had also been listed as next stops.

The ship is currently anchored in Rhodes.
