The rapid downfall of the Muslim Brotherhood, just one year after the Egyptian presidential election of Mohamed Morsi, constitutes a hard economic blow to Qatar.

Of the US$ 110 billion it reaped in annual revenues, the emirate donated 8 billion in various guises to boost the experience of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

In contrast with other major Arab channels, the Qatari Al-Jazeera television network covered the protests and military coup, flaunting its bias in favor of Mohamed Morsi.
