If the destruction of five states in the Greater Middle East over the past two decades has required deadly wars, the destruction of Lebanon was carried out by the Lebanese themselves, without them realizing it. The Resistance has helplessly seen the country collapse. It is indeed possible to win a war without having to fight it.

In an article which appeared in Foreign Policy, Joseph Kechchian, a renowned American political scientist working for Saudi Arabia, presented a plan for the partition of Lebanon . His reasoning is based on the observation of the historical failure of the confessional system (or rather "consociationalist" in Arend Lijphart’s terminology). However, he did not come up with any maps, but simply the idea of separating the Shiites from the rest of the Lebanese and establishing a federation. (...)

In his televised address on 29 September 2020, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah responded to the admonitions of the French President and threats from the Israeli Prime Minister.
Regarding the role played by France in the Lebanese crisis, he expressed his astonishment about the interference of a group of four former Lebanese Prime Ministers (Saad Hariri, Tammam Salam, Fouad Siniora and Nagib Mikati) and their intention to appoint the next government without consulting the (...)

Addressing the United Nations General Assembly by videoconference on 29 September 2020, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu jangled the nerves of Lebanese citizens .
Referring to the explosion that took place in Beirut on 4 August, without specifying whether it was an accident or an act of war, he indicated what could be the location of the next explosion: Jnah, a suburb of Beirut where, he claimed, the Hezbollah runs a weapons depot 50 meters from a gas station.
The IDF (...)

Playing Deus ex machina, President Macron came to distribute the good and bad points to the Lebanese leaders. Sure of his superiority, he said he was ashamed of the behavior of this political class. But all this is just a bad play. Underhandedly, he is trying to destroy the Resistance and to transform the country into a tax haven.

For too long, Lebanon’s political leaders have ignored their responsibility to address the needs of their people and instead built a political system that serves their private interests. The August 4 explosion at the Beirut port is the most recent and tragic demonstration of Lebanon’s dysfunctional political system, which has also enabled a terrorist group to hold the country’s governance hostage to its own agenda. The United States supports the Lebanese people’s (...)

On the night of 6 August 2020, we posted an article by Thierry Meyssan titled “Israel destroys East Beirut with a new weapon”. To illustrate our point, we included a video showing a missile striking the alleged Hezbollah warehouse in the port of Beirut.
This video, whose origin we acknowledged that we didn’t know, turned out to be a fabrication made from CNN footage.
It has now been removed from the article. It could have been left out altogether since it was not necessary. We apologize to (...)

The first Israeli Prime Minister has ordered the destruction of a Hizbollah weapons warehouse in Beirut with a new weapon. The weapon, which is not well known, caused considerable damage in the city, killing more than 100 people, injuring 5,000 and destroying many buildings. This time it will be difficult for Benjamin Netanyahu to deny it.

The Lebanese economy has collapsed in seven months. People are starting to go hungry. A solution is possible if the causes of the problem are properly analysed. However, it is still necessary to acknowledge one’s mistakes and to distinguish between what is structural and what emerges from regional problems. It is futile and defamatory to accuse the traditional enemy (Israel) or the brutal ally (the United States) of having caused a problem that has lasted for centuries and has become so anachronistic. It is also dangerous to ignore the evolution of Hezbollah’s current main ally (Iran).

On 30 June 2020 during a videoconference devoted to the reconstruction of Syria, Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab appealed to the United Nations and the European Union for their help in respect to the Caesar bill.
The Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act, which entered into force on 17 June, is a US piece of legislation meant to punish Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, guilty of still being there after years of braving threats, an embargo, false charges, a rigged trial and war.
It (...)

The United States is pondering the release, in July, of 13 Hezbollah hostages being held under various pretexts.
A little over a year ago, the United States adopted a complex arsenal of laws which has enabled it to obtain the extradition of, and to incarcerate, anyone who engages in the funding, albeit legal, of Hezbollah from a third country .
The most famous case is that of Congolese businessman Kassem Tajeddine (photo), who was arrested in Morocco, extradited to the USA, charged (...)

In a televised speech aired on 16 June 2020, Hezbollah secretary general Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah denied charges that billions of dollars had been transferred in recent months from Lebanon to either Iran or Syria.
On the contrary, he accused a bank of having illegally transferred at least 20 billion dollars from Lebanon to the United States, causing the collapse of the Lebanese pound.
The entry into force the following day, 17 June, of the Cesar Act, which prohibits all trade with Syria or (...)

The ability of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to implement its mandate has been constantly obstructed by Hizbullah, as this internationally designated terror organization continues to build up its weapons arsenal and military infrastructure, and declares openly that it will continue waging armed conflict against the State of Israel and its civilians. Hizbullah attacks Israel from within Lebanon, limits the freedom of movement of UNIFIL, and prevents access to sites in (...)

In Lebanon, the government of Hassan Diab has implemented a curfew and drastic health measures to fight the epidemic while the country’s health facilities are almost exclusively to be found in the private sector. The pro-US religious parties have accused Hezbollah of importing Covid-19 into Lebanon from Iran.
In this context, Hezbollah spontaneously took over the running of public health in the southern part of the country, with a majority Shia population. The Party of God has its own (...)

New Hampshire Democrat Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Republican Senator from Texas Ted Cruz have just tabled a bill: the "Zero Tolerance for Unlawful Detentions of US Citizens in Lebanon Act."
The aim is to secure the release of Amer Fakhoury (photo), detained in Lebanon since 12 September 2019, on charges of torture and other war crimes. The accused was a member of the South Lebanese Army (a militia collaborating with Israel during Lebanon’s invasion by the troops of Ariel Sharon). He served (...)
