US poised to continue as No. 1 oil producer

The United States, which is currently the leading oil-producing country thanks to fracking, is expected to hold its position longer than anticipted.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has acknowledged its inability to keep the price of oil at the $ 60 level. Washington may be expected, as from 2022, to start jacking up its prices to ensure the profitability of shale oil extraction in the face of mounting costs.
